ARE YOU BETWEEN THE AGES OF 13 & 23?
DO YOU WANT TO HELP WITH MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?
ARE YOU SELF-MOTIVATED? CURIOUS? CREATIVE? CONCERNED?
DO YOU LIKE TO: WRITE; MAKE ART; INVENT; BUILD; TEACH; CONDUCT INTERVIEWS OR EXPERIMENTS; DEVELOP BUSINESS IDEAS; RESEARCH; DEBATE; COMPETE OR CHALLENGE YOURSELF?
DO YOU CARE ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY, WHICH INCLUDES: THE ENVIRONMENT, SOCIAL JUSTICE, AND INNOVATION?
DO YOU WANT TO SEE YOUR WORK PUBLISHED ONLINE AND TAKEN SERIOUSLY? DO YOU WANT TO CONNECT WITH OTHER SERIOUS TYPES?
IF SO, WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!
The Serious Type is a budding online portal for young people like YOU who are serious about their lives and their future. It is a place for you to share and discuss your ideas, stories, experiences, art and academic musings. As long as the material you submit follows the PAC GUIDELINES (Polished, Appropriate and Constructive), WE WILL PUBLISH IT. And if you don’t have an idea in mind, The Serious Type provides writing prompts, experiments and ongoing studies to help you along your creative process.
We will publish all submitted content that is of good quality but are specifically interested in work that somehow reflects or supports a more sustainable world. However, sustainability is not just about the environment, it’s about the 3E’s (or the 3P’s – whichever acronym you prefer):
Environment (nature & science) - Planet
Equity (racial & social justice) - People
Economy (growth & innovation) – Profit
These categories are open to interpretation. As long as your work adds to The Serious Type’s mission of making the world a happier and healthier place, we are excited to consider it for publication.
To be considered, all work must follow the PAC guidelines:
P = polished (completed, edited, grammatically correct, in the right format)
A = appropriate (no swear words or offensive language; if you would not submit this work as a school assignment in terms of its language then it is not appropriate for The Serious Type)
C = constructive (work must be either uplifting, informative or helpful in some way; all work that is insulting or does not have any meaningful, positive, thoughtful or considerate content will not be eligible)
The following formats will be accepted:
An internal editor is provided for text-based material.
